Abstract
583,940. Toothed gearing. HAMILL, W. W., and MEADOWS, Ltd., H. Jan. 31, 1945, No. 14553/44. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a gear pump of the type comprising driving gears 4 and pumping gears 5 and in which one or both of the latter have elastic teeth or an elastic envelope covering tooth stubs which may be of metal or plastic, the addenda of the pumping teeth are slightly greater than the dedenda to effect a sealing action at the roots and tips of the teeth in their traverse of the meshing zone. The tooth stubs 7 may have enlargements 8, Fig. 3, to retain the rubber envelope in position. End discs 9 with or without teeth may be provided, and may have annular sealing grooves 10 and suitable cavities, not shown, to accommodate displaced rubber.
