632,462. Gear pumps or motors. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Nov. 3, 1947, No. 29309. Convention date, May 17, 1946. [Class 110(ii)] Slots or grooves 60 are provided in the tips or roots of the teeth 34, 36 to allow escape of the fluid trapped in pockets formed by meshing teeth. The slots may be provided in both faces of a tooth so that the pump or motor gear may be used for either direction of rotation. The escaping fluid may pass either to an inlet 16 or an outlet 18. Backlash 63 allows communication between pockets 56, 58 when the gears contact at points A, B.
