Abstract
465,363. Gear - wheel motors. JERRARD, E. P., and JERRARD, P. H. Nov. 26, 1935, No. 32714. [Class 110 (ii)] A motor driven by compressed air comprises a number of pinions 1 ... 6 positioned between a central gear A and a ring gear B. The gears A, B, may rotate in opposite direction, and the axes of the pinions remain stationary. Inlet ports a and exhaust ports b may be reversed by rotating a control valve C through a handle e. Working fluid may be supplied to all inlets a simultaneously, or the fluid may flow in series from one port b to the inlets of two other pinions. In a modification the central wheel A is divided into two wheels side by side, the pinion 1 extends across the teeth of both wheels but the other pinions 2 .... 6 are also divided so that the two central wheels rotate at different speeds. The working fluid is fed to meshing wheels, and exhausted from them, by way of annular grooves in one side wall. The rotary valve C may be replaced by another type of valve.
