[Class 110 (ii).] A reversible gear-wheel pump with one-way delivery is contained in a framework which has limited angular travel between two stops and which is moved frictionally by the rotation of the driving gear wheel about its shaft centre. Two gear wheels 7 on a driving shaft 4 mesh with two gears 11 on a spindle 10 which is supported at its ends in two side-plates 9 and at its centre in a bearing contained in a partition wall 8. The wall 8 and the side-plates 9 which are bolted together are clear of the shaft 4 and move against one or other of the stops 20 dependent upon the direction of rotation of the gear 7, the wall 8 having a curved extension piece 15 which slides on the curved inner wall of the pump casing. Fluid to be pumped enters the pump by way of ports 16, 17 and is delivered through ports 19, 18. A portion of the delivery fluid is tapped off to supply the shaft bearings with lubricant and also fed to the sides of plates 9 for axial balancing purposes. A handlever may be fitted outside the pump casing and connected to the rockable framework by a pin-andslot device so that the framework can be tested for freedom of movement, or a pointer affixed to indicate the position of the framework. The pump may have one or more than two stages working in parallel on the same shaft.
