564,309. Toothed gearing. CLARK, G. M. (Equi-Flow, Inc.). June 24, 1943, No. 10196. Drawings to Specification. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXVI] The rotors of gear-wheel pumps, having spur or double-helical teeth and meshing - screw pumps are built up of thin discs separated by very thin laminµ. The discs may be stampings from sheet metal used in the condition they come from the stamping operation. In the double-helical and screw rotors, the laminµ are cut to the shape of the overlapping surfaces only of the adjacent discs. In a modification, each disc is, preferably by a coining operation, on one or both sides shaped to be equivalent to a disc and a spacing laminµ. The discs may be of steel and the spacers of copper up to 0.003 inches thick and the whole rotor brazed together. Or, the spacers may be of fibre or plastic up to 0.01 inches thick or of thicker natural or synthetic rubber. Or, the driven rotor may be built up of plastic discs without spacers and clamped by end nuts on the shaft, spacers being used in the driving rotor. The discs may be of rubber with non-elastic spacers.
