Abstract

555,426. Reciprocating pumps. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Feb. 18, 1942, No. 2194. Convention date, March 25, 1941. [Class 102 (i)] In a double-acting bucket pump in which fluid is introduced into a single cylinder 10 between the two heads 13, 14 of a doubleheaded piston and discharged from opposite ends 48, 49 of the cylinder, and in which the piston is reciprocated by a lever 16 which enters the cylinder adjacent the fluid-introducing means, the point of entry is sealed by means of an annular sealing ring 36 seated within a recess 27 in the cylinder wall, surrounding a spherical portion 19 provided upon the lever, and held in position by a castellated nut 29 engaging the packing above the major diameter of the spherical portion. A further seal may be provided by a flexible hood 37. Pressure at the two ends 48, 49 is equalised by a by-pass 12.
