Abstract

552,638. Electropolishing metals. STEVENS, A. H. (Battelle Memorial Institute). March 24, 1942, No. 3910. [Class 41] Metals are polished by anodic treatment in a bath containing in aqueous solution arsenic acid with or without one or more mineral acids such as sulphuric, phosphoric, and chromic acids, the combined acid concentration constituting at least 50 per cent by weight of the electrolyte. Compositions of baths for the treatment of various metals and alloys are given in the Specification.
