Abstract
A nickel/manganese alloy suitable for use as electro-forming, and containing up to 1 percent of Mn is made by electro-depostion, using a bath in which both metals are present as sulphamates. Preferably the bath contains 10 to 20 ozs. per gal. of nickel and 2 to 5 ozs. of manganese, and is used as pH. 2 to 5 and at 130 to 150 DEG F. An alloy preferably containing .3 to .8 percent of Mn is made. The bath may include boric acid and ammonium chloride. Tables are given of the hardness and heat-stability of the alloy.
