Abstract
A vanadium/aluminium alloy is used as anode in electrorefining vanadium (see Group XXXVI). The alloy is produced by the alumino-thermic reaction of Al with V2O5. Examples of such alloys contain 0.64 to 12.41% of Al. Before electrolysis one alloy contains 84.2% V, 12.41% Al, 0.85% Si, 0.9% Fe, 0.14% O, 0.0011% H and 0.02% N. An example of electro-refined V contains 0.019% C, 0.09% O, < 0.01% N and 2.79% Al.
