Abstract
522,177. Electrolytic pickling. ALLOY RESEARCH CORPORATION. Dec. 2, 1938, No. 35219. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1937. [Class 41] Scale is removed from chromium alloy or steel products by treatment in a bath of fused alkali, e.g., sodium hydroxide first as cathode, then as anode, and again as cathode. For treating very dense scale further alternations of the electrolytic treatment may be employed, the last step always being cathodic. The articles are then treated with dilute sulphuric acid to remove alkali and finally pickled, e.g., in an aqueous solution of nitric acid.
