Abstract

547,407. Knitting-machines. COTTON, Ltd., W., WILDERS, G., and MACDONALD, W. G. Jan. 22, 1941, No. 829. [Class 74 (ii)] The knocking-over bar 10 of a straightbar machine has movement in the direction of the length of the needles imparted to it by a rock shaft 14 and arms 13, and movement transversely thereto by a second rock shaft 15 and arms 16, each arm 16 being connected to a vertical arm 12 associated with the bar 10 by a link 20. The link 20 is in the form of an eccentric having a pin 19 engaging in a cylindrical bore in a member 18 projecting from the arm 12, and having a cylindrical bore receiving a pin 22 mounted upon the arm 16. The pivot pin 22 is adjustable transversely of the needle length by a screw 25 extending through the arm 16 and bearing upon a shank upon the pin 22. Adjustment of the bar lengthwise of the needles may be effected by a screw 29 passing through the arm 13 and bearing upon a pivot pin 28 at the foot of the member 12.
