Abstract

648,058. Knitting-machines. COTTON, Ltd., W. Nov. 16, 1948, No. 29712. [Class 74 (ii)] The catch bar of a straight-bar machine comprises a number of grooved members 6 adjustably connected to the lower side of a body bar 1 which extends over a number of divisions of the machine. The groove 9 of each member 6 engages the butts of the sinkers of one division, or preferably not more than two divisions, of the machine. The members 6 are attached to the bar 1 by bolts 16 which pass through enlarged holes 17 in the bar 1 to engage the members 6. To effect adjustment of the members 6 the head of a screw 12, which is screwed into the bar 1, engages in a recess 15 in the member 6 so that by turning the screw 12 the member 6 is moved forwards or backwards in the direction of the sinker movement. Three screws are provided for effecting this adjustment of each member. Specification 558,127 is referred to.
