Abstract
629,190. Knitting-machines. MELLOR, BROMLEY, & CO., Ltd., and SHORTLAND, A. May 2, 1947, No. 11816. [Class 74 (ii)] In a straight-bar machine, the forward movement of the sinker jacks 5 is limited by a stop, to reduce wear on the sinker butts 1<SP>1</SP>. The stop may comprise a bar adjustably secured in front of the jacks or may consist of a stop 11 secured to the slurcock 7 which engages tails 51 of the jacks. The stop 11 may be shaped to conform with the surface of the slurcock 7 so that the jacks 5 are moved positively forward or rearward by the action of the combined stop and slurcock surfaces. The ends of the stop 11 may be tapered to provide a lead-in for guiding the stop 11 to a position between the main portion of the jacks and their tails 5<SP>1</SP>.
