Abstract
764,405. Knitting-machines. WALLEY, J. J. Jan. 6, 1955 [Jan. 6, 1954], No. 446/55.. Class 74 (2). The upper part 1 of the sinker head of a straight-bar machine is spaced from the lower part 2 by a pair of wedge-shaped blocks 6a, 6b provided at each end, the two blocks of each pair being relatively adjustable to enable the spacing between the upper and lower parts 1, 2 to be varied to compensate for wear of the sinker guide grooves. The adjustment of the blocks is made by screws 7 which pass freely through one block and threadedly engage the other. The upper part 2 of the sinker head comprises two components 1a, 1b and screws 20 are provided in the upper component 1a at various positions in its length and are adjusted to bear down on the lower component 1b to ensure that the midportions of the lower component are correctly positioned in respect of the sinkers.
