Abstract

531,782. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK CO., Ltd. Aug. 1, 1939, No. 22339. Convention date, April 21. [Class 80 (ii)] In a friction clutch having a facing mounting disc carried by a hub 10, the disc comprises a central region 15 of heavy sheet-metal and a number of segments 17 of thin spring sheet-metal secured to the part 15, e.g., by welding or by rivets 18. Alternate rivets may be omitted and the holes left be used for balancing by inserting rivets as required. Rows of corks a, b, c are inserted in the segments 17 and in the middle row b a cork b' may may be inserted at each gap between the segments 17, openings 21 being provided for this purpose. The part 15 may be associated with the hub 10 through springs 14. The part 15 may be carburized by the cyanide process.
