Abstract

461,467. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK.CO., Ltd. March 17, 1936, No. 8015. Convention date, April 5, 1935. [Class 80 (ii)] A driven clutch plate comprises an annular facing 16 secured by rivets 18 to the curved end portions 19 of reversely-curved spring plates 17, the other curved end portions 21 of which are secured to a carrier disc 4 by rivets 14 which also secure a facing 13 to the other side of the disc. The spring plates all extend in the same direction relative to the rivets 14 so that, during engagement of the clutch, slight relative rotation occurs between the facing 16 and the disc 4. The latter is provided with radial slots 12 and is resiliently connected to a hub 2 as described in Specification 369,810. A projection 24 on one end of each plate 17 engages a slot 22 in the disc 4, so as to prevent turning of the plate. Alternatively, there may be two rivets 14 and two rivets 18 for each plate 17. There may be two or more annular series of spring plates.
