Abstract

412,763. Friction clutches. HEARD, P., Osgathorpe Cottage, Pitsmoor, Sheffield. June 9, 1933, No. 16549. [Class 80 (ii).] In a clutch wherein a driven plate is adapted to be clamped between a driving member and a presser plate, the driven plate comprises friction annuli 25, 26 arranged on opposite sides of a spider 13 and rigidly secured to each other by rivets 28 which pass through, and are capable of radial movement in, radial slots 24 in the spider. The rivets 28, which are hollow and are expanded in conical holes in the annuli, have radial flanges 29 which engage in the slots. The spider is dished and the annuli provided with slits as described in Specification 412,716. The thickness of the flanges 29 is slightly less than that of the spider.
