Abstract

545,538. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK CO., Ltd., Dec. 18, 1940, No. 17848. Convention date, Feb. 23, 1940. [Class 80 (ii)] In a friction clutch in which the driven plate 13 and pressure plate 12b are enclosed by a cover 10b secured to the flywheel 11, the cover 10b has circumferentially spaced arched portions 19d which form with the flywheel 11 a series of ventilating openings 39. Between each pair of the latter is a flexible driving strap 24 the ends of which are secured to the pressure plate 12b, and cover 10b respectively. The peripheral flange 19b of the cover is polyhedral in shape and generally spaced from the flywheel, the outer portion of the cover being channel shape in cross-section.
