[Class 80 (ii).] In a clutch comprising a driven plate adapted to be clamped between a driving member 23 and a presser plate 18, the driven plate comprises a flexible metal spider, the whole of the outer portion of which, from near the inner ends of the spokes 13, is initially dished relatively to the presser plate so as to be concave towards the latter. The centre ring portion 12 of the spider is secured to a hub 17 splined on the driven shaft 19, and the outer ring portion 14 has slits 15 between the spokes to form arcuate portions 16. Friction annuli 26, 27 are secured on the opposite sides of the portion 14 by rivets 25 at the centre of the portions 16. The annulus 26 next to the presser plate has radial slits 28 extending from its inner periphery over a material portion of its width, while the annulus 27 may have similar slits extending from its outer periphery, the slits in both annuli registering with one another and with the slits 15. The annuli may be secured in such a way as to permit relative radial movement between the annuli and the spider, as described in Specification 412,763.
