Abstract

458,526. Friction clutches. SMALL & PARKES, Ltd., and KAY, A., Hendham Vale Works, Harpurhey, Manchester. Oct. 16, 1935, 28555. [Class 80 (ii)] The driven plate of a friction clutch comprises a pair of flexible spiders A and B which are spaced apart by a washer C<1> at the centre, where they are riveted to a splined hub C, and which carry upon radial spokes rims to which friction annuli D and E are secured by cork rivets d, the rim a<2> of the spider A, located at the fly-wheel side of the clutch, being formed on its inner periphery with inwardly-projecting spring fingers a which are located between the spokes a<1> of the spider A and which bear against the spokes b<1> of the spider B. The rims of the spiders are divided into segments by radial slots, the slots a<3> in the rim a<2> passing through the fingers a. Similar fingers may, in addition, be formed on the spider B, to bear against the spokes a<1>. Specifications 366,665, 366,893, and 409,346 are referred to.
