Abstract
1320488 Friction clutches; shaft couplings SOC ANON FRANCAISE DU FERODO 19 April 1971 [24 March 1970] 25047/71 Headings F2C and F2U A diaphragm spring engaged friction clutch has a continuously driven power take-off hub 23 connected to a clutch cover 10 by a disc 24 axially located between the diaphragm spring 16 and a presser plate 13. The disc 24 is riveted at 28 to the hub 23 and is connected by studs 19 to the cover 10. Perforations 27a in the disc 24 increase its flexibility and facilitate the flow of cooling air through the clutch. The diaphragm spring 16 pivots between a bead 20 on the cover 10 and a ring 21 interposed between the diaphragm spring 16 and disc 24. The presser plate 13 is connected to the cover 10 by interengaging projections or tangential straps. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the diaphragm spring (16) pivots between the bead (20) and a bead (21<SP>1</SP>) on the disc (24). In Fig. 3 (not shown) the inner periphery of the disc (24) is welded to the hub (23). In Fig. 4 (not shown), a torsional vibration damping unit having tangential springs (30) and friction dampers (31) is interposed between the disc (24) and hub (23). In Figs. 5 and 7 (not shown) the outer periphery of the disc (24) has radially outwardly extending lugs (33) which are secured to the cover (10) at points radially outwardly of the studs 19. In Fig. 7 (not shown), the inner periphery of the disc (24) is secured to the hub (23) through a flexible coupling having rubber between metal inserts (42, 43), respectively connected to the hub (23) and disc (24).
