1327774 Friction clutch LUK LAMELLEN UND KUPPLINGSBAU GmbH 25 Aug 1970 [26 Aug 1969] 40893/70 Heading F2C In a diaphragm-spring engaged friction clutch comprising a driven plate 4 between a flywheel 1 and a presser plate 2, the spring 6 at its radially outer region abuts the heads 13 of spacer and tensioning bolts 8 mounted on the fly-wheel. As shown, the radially inner edge of the spring engages projections 14 on the presser plate which is axially withdrawn to disengage the clutch by a sleeve 25 fast with the plate and moved by a release fork 28 carrying rollers 27. Radial lugs 7 on the spring abut either side of the bolts and are arcuate to provide a rolling surface. Spacer washers 20 allow adjustment of the bolts 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, and hence of the spring engaging pressure. Tangential straps 18 transmit drive from the flywheel 1 to the pressure plate 2, and are connected at their ends to bolts 8<SP>1</SP> and rivets (19), Fig. 3 (not shown), on the plate 2 respectively. Again, Fig. 4 (not shown), the spring may have radial inwardlydirected fingers abutted by a release sleeve. Also, Fig. 5, (not shown), the lugs 7 may be omitted and the outer edge (7<SP>1</SP>) of the spring may abut a wire ring (38) passing inside the bolts which engage in slots (39) in the presser plate and, Figs. 6a, 6b, (not shown), comprise square sleeves to guide the plate axially. In Figs. 7-9 (not shown), torque is transmitted from the flywheel to the presser plate by three tangential straps (40) connected at their ends to bolts (811) on the flywheel and being riveted at their centres to lugs (41) on the plate 2. Again, Fig. 12 (not shown) a smaller dished spring (48) is mounted to act between the presser plate and the main diaphragm spring 6 to smooth clutch engagement.
