Abstract

1,195,952. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 5 Dec., 1968 [11 March, 1968], No. 11654/68. Heading F2C. A friction clutch particularly suitable for a motor cycle transmission includes a disc-type spring 25 which, on its side adjacent a coverplate 21 engages an annular rounded rib 23 on the cover 21 and, on its opposite side, substantially opposite to the rib 23, engages an annular bead 29 on a ring member 31 supported on the cover 21. The bead 29 provides a fulcrum about which the spring 25 can be deflected to move its peripheral edge away from an annular rib 24 of a pressure plate 19. The ring member 31 is secured to the cover 21 by bolts 34 which pass through spacing tubes 35 and through apertures 28 which terminate slots 26 in the spring 25. The pressure plate 19 is suitably formed at its outer edge to engage splines or ribs 13 formed on the wall 12 of a cylindrical driving member 10. A release bearing 38 is engageable with radial fingers 27 of the spring 25.
