Abstract

1361792 Friction clutches AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 22 May 1972 [11 Aug 1971] 37752/71 Heading F2C In a friction clutch in which a driven plate (17) is clamped between a presser plate 15 and a flywheel (10) by springs (Fig. 2, not shown) the presser plate 15 is connected to the elutch housing (14) by links 32 such that any relative rotary movement between presser plate 15 and housing results in an increase in the force with which the driven plate is clamped, so that the torque transmitted by the clutch assists the springs. As shown the links 32 are pivoted on members 26 secured to a part 22 of the housing, the links being arranged each in a plane tangential to a circle about the clutch axis; each link being pivoted (at 34) to a member 28 secured to the presser plate 15. The clutch is released by radial release levers (Fig. 2, not shown).
