Abstract

1418890 Friction clutches FICHTEL & SACHS AG 29 Dec 1972 [31 Dec 1971] 59976/72 Heading F2C A axially resilient clutch driven plate comprises circumferentially spaced pairs of carrier plates 6 which have resilient arcuate sections 8 riveted to cups 4 carrying metal-ceramic friction pads 5. Each pair of cups 4 is secured to the arcuate sections of a pair of carrier plates 6 by two rivets 1, one of which secures one cup 4 to its carrier plate arcuate section 8 and passes freely through the other cup 4 whilst the other rivet secures the other cup 4 to its carrier plate arcuate section and passes freely through the one cup 4. The rivets 1 pass through the arcuate sections where the latter are furthest apart and limit axial separation of the friction pads. As shown two arcuate sections 8 are cut from each carrier plate and the sections are directed in opposite peripheral directions. In Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) a single arcuate section is formed on each carrier plate. In Figs. 1-4 (not shown) the arcuate sections are formed across the whole radial width of the carrier plates. In Fig. 9 (not shown) the carrier plates are formed integrally with a clutch driven disc.
