Abstract

The plate is particularly for use in dry automotive clutches, having a hub to which a lining mounting plate is fixed, with a lining on each side flexibly supported in the axial direction. The plate is in one piece, and the two linings are supported by a spring intermediate piece fixed to the plate. This piece can be in the form of a ring in a concentric passage, whose parallel sidewalls carry the linings on their outer faces, while the peripheral walls are divided in the middle to allow axial movement of the sidewalls, forming slots between the halves. The intermediate piece can be of heat resistant flexible material of great strength, typically hot-vulcanised silicon rubber. A spring-steel corrugated steel can be pressed into it.
