Abstract

998,793. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. March 11, 1964 [March 13, 1963], No. 10007/63. Heading F2C. A friction clutch plate comprises two discs 4, 5 separated at their centres by a spacer ring 6 and formed with chordally-arranged spring tongues &c. 9, 10 biasing them away from each other, rivets 8 holding friction facings 7 separately on the two discs limiting their axial separation. Each rivet 8 consists of two stepped parts, one part holding a facing 7 on one disc (e.g. the disc 4), while the other part is in sliding engagement with a hole through the other (the disc 5). The tongues may be formed on one only of the discs 4, 5. The friction facings may have the shape of rings or segments, or may consist of small discs arranged in a circle around the periphery of the discs 4, 5.
