Abstract
1,116,856. Vibration-damping couplings. SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE DU FERODO. 5 May, 1966 [7 May, 1965], No. 19873/66. Heading F2U. A vibration-damping arrangement for a friction clutch plate comprises a series of resilient bushes 14 freely mounted on pins 16 carried by the disc 10 and provided with outer rings 17 engaging curved cam tracks 23 on a star-shaped member 18 secured to the hub 12. Under load the rings 17 roll along the tracks 23 and the bushes 14 expand laterally to frictionally engage the face of disc 10 and individual discs (20), Fig. 2 (not shown) mounted on the pins 16. As shown the tracks 23 are formed as circular arcs, but they may be unsymmetrical to provide different damping characteristics for forward and reverse drives. In a second embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the rollers 17 are engaged by a continuous outer sinuous leaf spring (25) which may also serve as a cover, while in a third arrangement, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), tangential coil springs (26) are fitted between the rollers 17.
