Abstract

856,525. Centrifugal clutches. WILSON, N. B. Nov. 29, 1958, No. 38580/58. Class 80(2). A centrifugal clutch comprises shoes 4 moving radially between driving dogs 4<SP>1</SP> and formed on their opposite faces with arcuate grooves 13 each serving for the reception of a rigid metal ring 12 and leaf springs 17 which bear against the rings at their ends and contact the shoes at their mid-points, so that the shoes can move outwardly only at a predetermined speed of rotation. In modifications, Figs. 7 and 9 (not shown), the rings and leaf springs are located within the shoes.
