Abstract
525,565. Furnaces with coking chambers. REID, R. G., and DALGLEISH, N. Feb. 22, 1939, No. 5954. [Class 51 (i)] In a steam or water boiler furnace, solid fuel 1 is fed by a reciprocating ram 3 from a hopper 10 to a refractory-lined chamber 5 where distillation of the heavier hydrocarbons and tarry matters take place. From the distillation zone 7 the residue passes to a combustion zone 8 above reciprocating fire bars 6 more or less in line with the solid floor of the chamber 5.
