Abstract
158,394. Perry, W. P. Nov. 10, 1919. Produces; carbonizing.-In the continuous distillation of carbonaceous material by passing therethrough streams of hot gas, the volatile products are collected in a chamber provided with one or more outlets for gases, vapours, and liquid distillates. The fuel may be fed continuously to the preheating chamber B of a producer provided with a grate K at the base, and ash is discharged continuously by a screw G. The producer gas passes into a distributing-chamber A and through a louvered partition D into the fuel. The gases &c. escape through a second partition C<1> into the collecting-chamber L, which may be divided by shelves P to fractionate the products. In one modification, three concentric chambers are used, and in another form, the producer is separated from the distillation chamber. Specifications 15728/86 and 17613/88, [both in Class 51, Furnaces &c.], are referred to.
