Abstract

513,971. Centrifugal fans. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. ' April 25, 1938, No: 12345. Convention date, June 17, 1937. [Class 110 (i)]. [Also in Group XXVII] Direct-drive.-The drive of a charging blower c which is normally effected by an exhaustdriven turbine b, is assisted, when required, by an electric motor e operating on the threephase high-frequency system. The motor, which rotates at such a high speed that stepup gearing in the drive is not necessary, is supplied with current automatically, at reduced blower speeds, by a generator d driven by the engine, but the motor and the generator should be independently excited so that they can both be started together. If the engine is: reversible, a change-over switch is provided, so that the motor continues to rotate in the same direction when the engine and generator are reversed.
