Abstract

644,096. Cooling cylinders. SERVOFREIN DEWANDRE, SOC. ANON. Jan. 9, 1948, No. 764. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1947. [Class 7(ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] Engine accessories, e.g. a cooling fan 1, a water pump 2, or an oil pump 3 for servogear, are mounted on a shaft 9 driven at constant speed through a differential gear from the engine, and an electric motor 4. The engine drives, through a shaft 11, the casing 5 carrying the planet wheels 7 of the differential gear, whose sun-wheels are connected to the shaft 9 and the motor shaft 8. A speed governor 13, driven by the casing 5 controls the motor through a rheostat 16 and a starter 18. A pin 14 is provided to lock the shaft 8 to the outer casing if the motor fails.
