Abstract
561,196. Engine accessories. BOWLER, H. P. Jan. 1, 1943, No. 33. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] A unit for use in converting a water-cooled automobile engine for industrial purposes comprises a water-circulating pump 2 and a speed governor 1, with or without a fan 27. As shown, the rotary pump 2 and centrifugal governor 1 are mounted on a shaft 3 and housed in separate compartments in a common casing 5 adapted to be mounted on the cylinder head, pipe connections 8, 9 on the casing being connected to the radiator 11 and to the outlet 12 of the engine water-jacket. The shaft 3 carries a drive pulley 24 geared by a belt 25 to a pulley 26 on the engine shaft and the governor sleeve 15 actuates a lever 21 which may be connected to the carburetter throttle or other control means. A dynamo may be driven by the belt 25, pulley 26 or shaft 3.
