Abstract
510,089. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. OPPERMAN, S. E. Jan. 26, 1938, No. 2497. [Class 118 (ii)] Indicators, particularly for giving warnings regarding pedestrians crossing the road, are placed at the front and rear of the vehicle and consist of a box-like spring-controlled structure 4 possessing a translucent panel 5 bearing the necessary information such as "cross now " or "crossing." The structure is mounted in a casing 1, contains lamps 6 and may be pivotally supported so that on closure of a switch a solenoid swings the structure from a reversed position to that shown, the lamps 6 being simultaneously illuminated. In a modification the structure may be fixed in position and exposure and concealment of the panel effected by a masking shutter operated by a solenoid.
