Abstract
198,380. Edwards, S. W. H. March 1, 1922. Road-vehicle signals; transparency signals; semaphore signals.-Direction signalling apparatus at front and rear of a vehicle comprises pivoted indicators which are operated by means of cables controlled from the steering gear and uncover transparency signals illuminated for night use, preferably by the usual front and rear lamps. Fig. 1 shows a hand d which uncovers a transparent hand c illuminated by a front or side lamp. Fig. 5 shows hands d<3>, d<4> which uncover hands c<2>, c<3> illuminated by the rear lamp which shows through red glass t. Fig. 6 shows control mechanism for corresponding hands at front and rear, the rear hand d<3> being operated by the wire k<1> against a spring j<1>, and the front hand d<2> being normally held by the wire k against a spring j, so that indication is given in the case of failure by movement of the lever o, or falling of the front hand.
