Abstract
509,933. Endless-belt conveyers. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION, Ltd., DAVIDSON, G. W., and HERBERT, S. L. Jan. 26, 1938, No. 2509. [Class 78 (i)] In a conveyer suitable for use in mine roads, the upper and lower runs of the belt are carried by a rigid housing which may be suspended at spaced intervals or supported by roller bearing blocks on the floor. The housing is composed of short sections 1a, Fig. 1, which are secured rigidly together at their flanges 2 by bolts and are open at the sides 3, Fig. 2. Each section includes a deck 4 on which are mounted guide rollers 5 for the belt. The sides may be closed by suspended flexible members 20, Fig. 4, which are weighted at 20a so that they return to the position shown after displacement by falling material. The deck 4a has downwardly inclined edges 4a' to discharge spillage outside the housing, and is secured to the housing by narrow cross-members 4b. The housing is suspended at widely spaced intervals by selfadjusting slings 8 carried by rollers 8a which run on joists 9.
