Abstract

364,294. Endless belt conveyers. NYBORG, T. G. and HIGGINS, M. F., Meco Works, Worcester. Dec. 8, 1930, No. 36914. [Class 78 (i).] In conveyers of the kind in which the bottom run is protected by an inverted U-shaped trough, the shield is formed of sections assembled together with butt joints. The end edges of each section 1, as shown in the Figure, are bent upwardly and outwardly to form smoothly rounded flanges 3, 4 behind which U-shaped straps 5, 6 are riveted to the sections. The flanged ends are chamfered off to permit the sections being connected out of alignment on undulating ground. One end of each section 1 is riveted to a pillar 7 secured to a foot 8 and having a bent-over upper end 9. The other end of each section 1 carries a pair of plates 12 which rest on the strap 6 of the adjacent section 2. A plate 13 mounted on the strap 6 prevents the lifting of the end of section 1. Separation of the sectionsis pre- 'vented by a hook-shaped plate. The idler rollers 16 are supported by brackets 15. Pins 20 on the pillars 7 position the angle-bars 21, 22 which support the side-plates 23, 24.
