Abstract

Driving-gear for endlessbelt conveyers; casings sect i o n a l framework; idler rollers; feet; guards and shields to prevent falling-off and spilling. - In a coal face or like belt conveyer in which the return run a<1> is protected by lengths of troughing b of inverted U-section which support the upper and lower belt carrying rollers and also serve as guides for aligning the conveyer throughout its length, the ends of the lengths of troughing overlap and have pin-and-socket connections' g, h. Guards f are attached to the upturned ends e<1> of yokes e secured to the troughing. The ends of the lengths of troughing are stiffened by strips of angle section steel on which are formed feet j<1>. The end of the length of troughing nearest the driving head is attached thereto by engaging its sockets with dowel pins g<1> on a bracket k on the head. The driving head is mounted on a wheeled truck p running on rails q and elements x, y, of the driving gear are arranged on each side of the conveyer. The shaft t of the motor u is connected by a coupling w to a shaft t<1> which passes through the hollow shaft r of the driving drum s. The shaft t<1> is provided at each end with a half-coupling member similar to w in order that the motor can be changed from one side to the other.
