Abstract

504,920. Cigarette-making machines. BELL, A., and INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY CO., Ltd. Sept. 28, 1937, No. 26213. [Class 130] [Also in Group VIII] A web, e.g. of cork for tipping cigarettes, is cut into sections by co-operating cutters 7, 8 carried by a mounting 5, 6 rockable about a spindle 10 so that the cutters move with the web, and adjustable about a vertical axis so as to alter the angle at which the web is cut. The lower part 6 of the mounting is connected to a saddle 9 on the spindle 10 by a spigot 13 and is angularly adjustable thereabout by screws 16. The upper part 5 of the mounting with the cutter 7 is reciprocated by an adjustable crank device 24 provided with self-aligning ball bearings 26 and serving also to rock the whole mounting about the spindle 10. The cutters are adjustable by screws 29, 31. In a modification, the cutters are mounted on bladÚ springs.
