Abstract

503,589. Lenses. SCOPHONY, Ltd., and LEE, H. W. July 1, 1937, No. 18272. [Class 97 (i)] An objective corrected for chromatic and spherical aberrations consists of two convergent components each of which is compound and comprises either a double convex or a plano-convex collective-lens cemented to a dispersive lens, the glass-air surface of at least one of the collective lenses being plane. The difference between the refractive indices of the glasses used may exceed 0À5 in at least one component. In the form shown the plane glass-air surface is provided on the collective lens of the front component. The dispersive member of the rear component may also have a plane glass-air surface. In a third form plane glass air surfaces are provided on the dispersive member at the rear of the front component and on the collective member at the front of the rear component. Data are given.
