Abstract

376,044. Lenses. LEE, H. W. and KAPELLA, Ltd., 104, Stoughton Street, Leicester. July 31, 1931, No. 21856. [Class 97 (i).] Relates to photographic lenses of the kind described i n Specification 165,657, [Class 97 (il, Opticalsystems &c.], comprising two components, one consisting of a meniscus dispersive element cemented to a meniscus collective element of lower refractive index, and the other consisting of a double convex element cemented to a double concave element of lower refractive index, and a diaphragm, the elements being in the sequence named. According to this invention the refractive index of the double convex element for the D line exceeds 1.63 and that of the double concave element is not less than 1À52 and is less than that of the double convex element by at least 0.1. The Figure shows a lens consisting of two members as defined above with the free surfaces of the double concave elements facing each other, the two lens members being of equal or unequal focal lengths. The two components of each member may be cemented together or, as shown, they may be separated by an air space and the surfaces bounding the air space may have different radii. Numerical data are given.
