Abstract
477,448. Lenses. LEE, H. W., and KAPELLA, Ltd. June 30, 1936, No. 18073. [Class 97 (i)] A photographic objective corrected for spherical and chromatic aberrations, coma, astigmatism, field curvature, and distortion, comprises two collective components each consisting of a double convex element of high refractive index cemented to a dispersive element of lower refractive index, and a dispersive component located' between and separated by air spaces from the collective components and consisting of a double convex element of high refractive index cemented between two double concave elements of lower refractive index. Preferably, the refractive index of each collective element exceeds by at least 0À05 that of the dispersive element, or of each dispersive element, associated with it, and the AbbÚ numbers of the collective elements are higher than those of the associated dispersive elements. The power of each component is not greater numerically than 2À25 times the power of the system and the power of each cemented surface exceeds one-tenth that of the system. The dispersive element of each collective component is preferably on the side towards the dispersive component. Data are given for the example shown having an aperture f /2.
