Abstract
381,662. Lenses. WARMISHAM, A., 1625, Hinman Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, U.S.A., and KAPELLA, Ltd., 104, Stoughton Street, Leicester. Aug. 18, 1931, No. 23207 and 27304. [Class 97 (i).] Relates to lenses comprising two separately achromatized members separated by an air space S1, the length of which can be varied in order to vary the equivalent focal length of the lens. According to the invention the focal length of the front member is numerically not substantially less than four times that of the rear member. As shown both members are convergent, the front member consisting of a doublet A and the rear member consisting of two separated components B, C, of which the former is a doublet and the latter consists of a collective element I and a dispersive element II separated by an air space III in the shape of a collective lens. Specifications 180,949, 258,092, [both in Class 97 (i), Optical systems &c.], and 361,359 are referred to.
