517,504. Lenses. KODAK, Ltd: Nov. 18, 1938, No. 33551. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1937. [Class 97 (i)] An objective of Petzval type comprises two collective components separated by more than one quarter the focal length of the system, the front component including a negative air lens, i.e., an air space the axial thickness of which is greater than its marginal thickness. As shown the front component comprises a cemented doublet and a meniscus element which is preferably in marginal contact with the rear surface of the doublet. Preferably the cemented surface of the doublet is more strongly curved than either of its outer surface, and is convex towards the rear. Data are given. Specification 517,503 is referred to.
