559,390. Lenses. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). Aug. 14, 1942, No. 13171/43. Divided out of 559,379. [Class 97 (i)] In a high-apertured photographic objective comprising four airspaced components, the outer ones being positive, the inner ones compound menisci highly concave towards one another, and the third component IV, V being a cemented doublet having an axial thickness less than one tenth the focal length F of the objective, the front surface R9 of the rear component is concave to the front and has a radius greater than 2.0F ; in addition the rear surface R2 of the front component may be concave to the rear and have a radius of curvature greater than 0.5F and less than 2.0F. The refractive index of the element V may be greater than 1.7 and may be greater than the refractive index of the element IV by at least .05. Data for one example are set out.
