548,255. Lenses. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). March 27, 1941, No. 4157. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] In a photographic objective consisting of two outer positive components and two inner meniscus components highly concave towards a diaphragm between them, the third component is compound and includes an element having a refractive index which is greater than 1.7 and is at least 0.05 greater than that of an element in front of it ; the third component may be a doublet, or may have a higher number of elements, the conditions applying to any two of them. The refractive index of the front element may be less than 1.65, or that of the rear element may be greater than 1.75. The dispersive index of the rear element may be greater than that of the front element. Complete data for two examples are set out in the Specification.
