480,641. Lenses. LEITZ GES., E. June 7, 1937, No. 15776. Convention date. Aug. 13, 1936. [Class 97 (i)] In a rapid objective having eight or ten air exposed surfaces the first four of which have a collective effect and the fifth and sixth a highly dispersive effect, the first six air exposed surfaces are convex towards the object side and the curvature of the fourth is at least as great as the sum of those of the second and fifth surfaces. Of the aberrations from the aplanatic form of the first four surfaces, that of the fourth is positive and greatest, and that of the third is positive or negative and least. The second and third members each consist of simple lenses. The fourth member may be a cemented triplet, the central lens being biconvex. Data are given.
