Abstract
575,075. Lenses. WRAY (OPTICAL WORKS), Ltd., and WYNNE, C. G. Feb. 25, 1944, No. 3549. [Class 97 (i)] An objective of the type comprising two meniscus and two convergent components arranged as shown, each meniscus having its convex surface of greater curvature than its concave surface, and neither convergent component including a cemented surface sufficiently dispersive to produce with the immediately preceding surface relative over-correction of axial spherical aberration on rays incident on the front of the lens parallel to the 'axis, is characterized by one of the menisci a, b being a compound component and the other c a single component. The convergent components e, f may each consist of a single element, as shown, or one may consist of two separate elements, or they may be formed as cemented doublets or triplets. One or more of the elements may be formed of crystal; for example, the element b may be formed of an alkali metal halide. Some of the surfaces may be slightly aspherical.
