Abstract

499,316. Discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and MOSCRIP, W. R. July 21, 1937, No. 20145. [Class 39 (i)] The cooling jacket 5 is secured to the external anode 1 of an electron-discharge device, e.g. a thermionic valve, by a lapped joint over which is placed a packing washer 3 pressed thereon by a metallic member such as a pipe clip 4. The joint is screened by a ring 6. In other forms, the bearing surfaces of the anode and jacket may be conical or an upturned edge of the jacket may overlap the edge of an annular plate on the anode. The invention may be applied to valves in which the filament and grid leads are sealed into the tube at opposite ends. Specification 462,647 is referred to.
